Thembalethu Care Organization

Thembalethu, meaning ’our hope’ in isiZulu, is a community-based South African non-profit organization dedicated to caring for the its community in the midst of the HIV/AIDS pandemic and crushing poverty.

TCO works to share the hope we have with the sick, orphaned and vulnerable in the Amangwe community. Our vision is to share God’s love, raise awareness, promote and support loving care to those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS and poverty.

In an area that has an estimated 40% of the adult population infected by HIV and no-one untouched, the need for hope and care is vast.

To address the communities needs, our core work is to provide home-based care and community-based care of orphaned and vulnerable children. Our offices are also used as a community resource center for the deep rural community to better access resources. We also assist with raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and TB and doing HIV counseling and testing.

Thembalethu Care Centre, located in the heart of the Injesuthi Valley, serves as a community centre to help the deep rural people access resources, info and care.

The heart of Thembalethu is to provide loving care and support to the sick, orphaned and vulnerable, work inspired by the dedication and care of these ladies.
